Vastu Shastra Taj Mahal case study___ Dr. Shaifali Banssal INTRODUCTION

Have you ever thought that why Taj mahal is world famous? What makes Taj Mahal a world heritage site? Why is Taj Mahal a major tourist attraction?

In Vastu Shastra, we study those energies play a vital role in the flourishing of a building. Does the same rule, same principle and same guidelines of the Vastu shastra are being applied in the case of taj mahal also? The answer is “YES”. The Taj Mahal was built up many decades ago and world famous even today. Today, there are many luxurious hotels, malls and many other sightseeing places. But the Taj Mahal has never lost its importance. Tourists use to come there with the same curiosity as it was many years ago. So, what makes it so famous and attractive in the terms of Vastu Shastra.

The Vastu shastra and The Taj Mahal

When we grid the Taj Mahal in 16 zones, we came into the following conclusion: –

1. The Yamuna River The Yamuna River lies in the North and Northeast of the Taj Mahal which is a positive symbol as per Vastu.

2. Higher South The higher direction of the land is the South, and the North side of the land is lower one. People generally get the misconception that the North is higher in height but that is not true. If we look at the height where the Taj Mahal is being constructed, it’s the South side higher.

3. Activity Northeast is the assembly hall which is the lighter area and Mosque is in the Northwest. Both the things are as per Vastu guidelines.

4. Brahmasthan Brahmasthan is the area that should not have any construction. We have noticed that the center of the Taj Mahal is not constructed, which is a good thing. Entrance Entry 1 The main entrance of the Taj Mahal is from the South direction named- S4, S5. S4 is a positive entrance bringing name and fame while S5 is a negative entrance. This negative entrance may be the reason that The Taj Mahal is never used for staying. Entry 2 The other entry is the Northeast named N8. It is a positive entrance bringing abundance of money and profits. Thus, it is truly said that if a building is flourishing, it means that building is according to the Vastu guidelines.
