The whole universe consists of five elements. Let it be the human body, a building or any other object in the universe, there is the role of Panchtatv. These five elements (water, air, fire, earth, space) are known as Panch Mahabhoot.

Each element has its own properties, qualities and role in our life. Out of these five elements, water holds the major importance as water is an important element connected to life. Even our human body contains a major percentage of water. Lack of water in any body part means an increase of water in the other body part which symbolizes the imbalance of water element and the human body faces health issues in such cases. Like increase in water element in the body denotes lack of other elements which causes problems like over emotions, obesity etc. Similarly, decrease in water element in the human body creates imbalance and makes the person suffer from problems like dehydration, dryness etc.

Now if we look into the Vedic science, water is used to protect positive energy from being flown away by the wind. This is one of the reasons water is kept in a bowl while conducting prayers and Havan.

Not just in Hindu mythology, in feng shui (Chinese philosophy) also, shui means water and they believe Water as Wealth. Water has main importance in the study of Feng shui. Moreover, as per the Vastu Shastra which is the ancient study of architecture in India, water plays a major role. Vastu shastra is the study of balancing five elements in a building to make it prosperous and flourishing. As per the Vastu Shastra, water means flow, water means connectivity.

Water and Business

Water plays a major role in business. Although Vastu shastra is an ancient science, research keeps on going and making this subject more and more updated. If we talk about the modern-day lifestyle and the updated study of Vastu, the water element is a major element of giving new opportunities to a person which can provide business, customers and money. The water element directions in a building are NNW, North, NNE, NE. These directions should be free from any clutter, storage, fire and any other thing that disturbs the water element.

Moreover, water means connectivity. On this earth, nothing can stop the water flow except riverbanks and water is the element that connects states, countries, continents and people.  It has been noticed by the researchers that the flourishing cities are located on the banks of rivers or on sea sides. Here we have some examples: Shanghai, Nanking, Hongkong, Mumbai, Chennai, New York, London, Rome, Venice, Sydney, San Francisco, Dublin, Lisbon etc.  

The famous Taj Mahal is also constructed near the Yamuna River which connects it with the whole world. Another positive point as per Vastu is that the Yamuna lies in the North direction of the Taj Mahal which is the direction of the water element. Thus, making the monument connected with the whole world.

An important Vastu Tip –

Some people keep their heavy safe in the North direction considering it the direction of wealth. It is not good to keep heavy safes in the North direction which is the direction of the water element. It obstructs the flow of water and creates obstruction to the flow of customers and business opportunities.
